# Profile & Prompt Instructions

Customize your Teammate's core identity, reasoning power, and behavioral prompt instructions.

Every AI Teammate in Diaflow is powered by a configurable identity and a dedicated instruction set. Through the **General** and **Instructions** tabs in Teammate Settings, you can fine-tune who your Teammate is, how deeply they reason, and the exact operating principles they follow when executing tasks.

## General Profile & Intelligence Configuration <a href="#user-content-1-general-profile--intelligence-configuration" id="user-content-1-general-profile--intelligence-configuration"></a>

To access profile settings, click the **Settings `⚙️`** icon in the top-right corner of your workspace and select the **General** tab.

* **Avatar, Name & Title:**\
  Give your Teammate a recognizable persona (e.g., *Leo — Data Engineering & BI Lead*). This helps team members immediately understand who to delegate specific tasks to.
* **Description:**\
  A concise overview explaining what this Teammate owns, their primary skill set, and their business goals (e.g., optimizing queries, auditing pipelines, or building dashboard specs).
* **Model:**\
  Select the underlying large language model powering this Teammate.
* **Intelligent Level:**\
  Adjust the reasoning depth and analytical thoroughness (e.g., *High* for complex data analysis, coding, and multi-step logic; or standard levels for rapid conversational tasks).
* **Status:**\
  Displays the Teammate's live operational state (`🟢 Available`).
* **Offboard this teammate:**\
  A safe offboarding trigger located at the bottom-left corner to pause the Teammate when their role is no longer needed.

## Instructions: Defining How Your Teammate Works <a href="#user-content-2-instructions-defining-how-your-teammate-works" id="user-content-2-instructions-defining-how-your-teammate-works"></a>

The **Instructions** tab acts as your Teammate’s core behavioral DNA. Unlike general chat messages, instructions are permanently remembered across every conversation, routine, and task execution.

**Editor Features:**

* **Rich Text & Code Mode (`T` / `</>`):** Toggle between visual formatted text and raw Markdown/code view for easy editing.
* **Quick Copy:** One-click copy to back up or share prompt instructions across teammates.

## AI-Powered Prompt Assistant <a href="#user-content-3-ai-powered-prompt-assistant-sparkles" id="user-content-3-ai-powered-prompt-assistant-sparkles"></a>

Instead of drafting prompts from scratch, you can use the built-in AI assistant to generate or refine instructions:

1. In the top-right corner of the Instructions editor, click the **Sparkles (`✨`)** icon.
2. In the popover asking *"What would you like to change or generate?"*, type your request in natural language (e.g., *"Make tone more concise and emphasize cost optimization"* or *"Rewrite instructions for a Senior Financial Analyst"*).
3. Click **Confirm**. Diaflow AI will automatically rewrite and structure the instruction set to meet professional standards while respecting the word limit.

## Best Practice: The 4-Part Instruction Framework <a href="#user-content-4-best-practice-the-4-part-instruction-framework" id="user-content-4-best-practice-the-4-part-instruction-framework"></a>

To get the most accurate and reliable output from your Teammate, we recommend structuring your prompt into four clear sections:

| **2. Core Responsibilities** | Specific functional domains the Teammate handles.    | <p>• Complex SQL query optimization.<br>• Data pipeline debugging & schema design.<br>• BI dashboard specifications.</p>                       |
| **3. Operating Principles**  | Quality standards, formatting rules, and priorities. | <p>• Prioritize query efficiency and cost optimization.<br>• Always validate assumptions before drafting schema changes.</p>                   |
| **4. Guardrails & Refusals** | What the Teammate should avoid or verify.            | <p>• Never guess unconfirmed metrics.<br>• Prompt the user if critical parameters are missing.</p>                                             |
